Resolutions

Wow, I really suck at this blog thing don't I? I was talking to a friend about keeping a journal the other day, and I told her how much I enjoy looking back at my journal entries. It's funny to read each memory and smile at the happy ones, be able to laugh at the things that made me angry, and have my heart strings pulled at while reading about the things that made me sad or broke my heart. Life is such a blessing in itself, and I want to be able to remember everything. I think it would be really great for my kids or grandkids to be able to read my journals someday too. So, among other things, one of my resolutions this year is to be better about writing in my journal. This includes my blog, which I obviously am not very good at. To help me get started, I found a list that has a list of topics you are supposed to talk about on your blog, one a day for 30 days. It might take me more like 60 days to get through, but I really want to at least do the whole list.
Day One's topic is, My favorite song. Wow, how can I pick just one?? I love music, love, love, love it. There is almost nothing else that can have such a strong impact on your emotions in such a short amount of time. A tradition that my friends and I have is to make each other a mix cd for Christmas of our favorite songs. I will share them with you :) This was only our second year doing this tradition, so I only have two lists.
2009: 1. From Yesterday-30 Seconds to Mars. Why I like it? Well...anyone who really knows me knows how much I love Jared Leto! I love him music, his voice is so hot..rawr...
2. Zero-Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The lead singer has such a unique sound, I just love how fun it is!
3. Buried Myself Alive-The Used. This band will always hold a special place in my heart because it's one of the first alternative bands I fell in love with. I have this whole cd memorized and it totally takes me back to high school.
4. MakeDamnSure- Taking Back Sunday. For some strange reason I was OBSESSED with this song and listened to it on repeat in my car for like 3 months straight. Seriously. I was that obsessed.
5. Run-Snow Patrol. This song is just so beautiful, I love his voice, I love his lyrics, I love everything about it. Definitely on my top 5 favorite songs of all time.
6. Truly Mady Deeply-Savage Garden. Don't laugh! This song takes me back to junior high. I will always love Savage Garden, and not so secretly wish they would get back together!
7. Unchained Melody- The Righteous Brothers. Blame it on Ghost, the movie. One of the movies that made me fall in love with Patrick Swayze. This song just oozes love to me. I found a card that plays this song, and someday I want someone who loves me to buy that card and write me a love note in it. Does that sound crazy?? :)
8. Samson-Regina Spektor. This girl is amazing. She is quirky and fun, and has a beautiful voice. Some of the lyrics in the song just make my heart melt.
9. Take Me There-Rascal Flatts. The reason I love this song is because of the lyrics. I would like to find a guy like that someday.
10. Closer-Ne-Yo. I love the beat to this song, it's just one of those that makes you want to dance!
11. The Way You Make Me Feel- Michael Jackson. This man will always hold a special place in my heart also. He's definitely one of the most amazing artists of the century, and I always wanted to go to a concert of his. It's hard to pick just one of his to be your favorite, but this is an awesome song.
12. Electric Feel- MGMT. This song is fun and amazing..and I highly recommend it.
13. Sex on Fire-Kings of Leon. This was one of the new hits that year and I just loved it!
14. Crazy-K-CI and JoJo. I'm embarrassed to tell you why I love this song so much...so I'm not going to :)
15. Iris-Goo Goo Dolls. This has been on my list of favorite songs for years. I absolutely love everything about it.
16. Sugar, We're Goin' Down- Fall Out Boy. I loved this song the first time I heard it, and when I saw the music video, I loved it even more. You guys should look it up. Quirky, yet adorable.
17. Death and All His Friends-Coldplay. Beautiful music, enough said.
18. Uninvited-Alanis Morissette. I knew I would like this song 3 seconds after is started. Amazing right?

2010 Cd: 1. Closer to the Edge-30 Seconds to Mars. I love to sing this at the top of my lungs while no one is around.
2. Giving up the Gun-Vampire Weekend. This guys voice is just so...lovely.
3. Teenage Dream- Katy Perry- I dunno why I love it so much, I just do :)
4. X&Y-Coldplay. This one is kinda trippy...
5. Blue and Yellow-The Used. Something a little on the soft side for them, and they do it so well.
6. Just the Way You Are-Bruno Mars. What girl wouldnt love it?
7. 1901-Phoenix. A song I fell in love with the first time I heard it and just had to know who it was.
8. Just Say Yes-Snow Patrol. The lyrics are so sweet. I just want the damn girl to say yes!
9. My Time- Minus the Bear. I loved it when I heard it, and then I listened to the lyrics and realized what it was about, and I loved it even more! haha
10. Resistance-Muse. So powerful!
11. I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears and None On My Fingers-Fall Out Boy. There is one part of the song that I just love love love the guitar.
12. Dance Yrself Clean- LCD Soundsystem. Very different, in a good way.
13. Even Now-Dashboard Confessional. So pretty.
14. Hang Me Up to Dry-Cold War Kids. This guys voice is just so interesting to me!
15. Crossfire-Brandon Flowers. His voice is just full of passion. I love it.
16. I Will Follow You Into the Dark-Death Cab for Cutie. These lyrics are incredibly sweet.
17. Take It Off-Ke$ha. Yeah I know..I got made fun of for putting this on the list. But it's a guilty pleasure!
18. The Only Exception-Paramore. I think this girl has a fantastic voice.

So there you have it, a list of some of my favorite songs. There are many more, but this blog is long enough already!
